Harvest

In the Southern Hemisphere it is mid spring now, and it is time to plant pumpkin’s, squash, tomato’s, corn, lettuce, the list is endless, all depends on how large your veggie patch is, it is not the time to harvest anything

                                                      but wait

                                                        how could I

                                                          forget

                                                            that I do have

                                                              a harvest

                                                                and not just any ordinary

                                                                   but the SUPER veggie

                                                                           BROCCOLI
                                                                 You should eat your
                                                                           because
                                                                             it is

full of antioxidant's that protect your body from coughs, sneezes, arthritis and cancer.

But wait

        there's more,

     it has

            FIBRE.

 You don't like your broccoli,
best advice,
              ever,
 hide your broccoli,
        how?

pull out the food processor,
pop the broccoli into the machine and
           give it a whiz.
Then add to the pizza sauce, the lasagne sauce, meat loaf, gravy,

              BE SNEAKY,

CHOCOLATE CAKE, yeess, but not too much
                         Or
                   if you dare
                                  the coleslaw

 like the 10 commandments,
 broccoli is good for you.
God gave them both to us,
 we should be thankful.

                     But
                   Wait

There’s more

leave the broccoli in the garden,
if given plenty of water and good fertilizer,
will turn from green to small yellow flowers,

 the broccoli blooming,
 is pretty,
why don't we pick them and put them into a vase?

Note to self; if I feed myself time with God, I should bloom too.

BUT WAIT.

    There is more,

and maybe this is why I don't pick broccoli flowers,
         the flowers will fade,
                            and die,
and the plant will look ordinary

 not SUPER,

but at work within the plant is a miracle,
watch and after a while,
you will notice that where the yellow flowers were is becoming thicker,
 work is being done,
  seed is growing,
   getting ready to harvest
         for
     the new crop of

            awesomely

                                            SUPER
                                BROCCOLI.

                                                                Don't ever think
                                                                        That

                                               GOD

                                                          is not at work
                                                               Love your broccoli
                                                                    because like

                                                             GOD

                                                                  it is good for you.

Rain, Yes, We Had Rain.

Rainfall map produced by NASA
The heaviest falls of rain missed me, still I know that in my area many people were caught out by the amount of rain that fell in a couple of hours. It is amazing how quickly all this water runs into drains, creeks and rivers, the expected and unexpected routes the water finds and in the chosen path manages to enter peoples homes, dislocating and disorganising lives in ways we never expect or think off.

Another unexpected side effect of all this rain is that the oceans dropped in height.

The red line in this image shows the long-term increase in global sea level
map produced by NASA

Yay, I thought, but then I took a look at the map, no Yay, sea levels are still higher now than they were in 1992. The closer you are to the equator the more you notice the increase in sea level.

Oh  by the way, the red to black spots on the first map are a serious short fall of rain, these regions of the world have drought.

If you want to donate there are plenty of organisations to choose from, Huff Post have provide links on their website to organisations providing assistance. If you want to help out, choose one that is to your liking. The need is enormous and urgent.

The year is speeding past, September has almost closed. At the moment I am hoping that the current batch of server weather, will pass as others have done, leaving behind wind tossed trees, by that I don't mean blown over, but just that limbs move with the winds passing, some rain, and no damage to people or property.

So far this year has produced savage weather and for many the thought of 'Coming Home', has been devastating to say the least, grief at dealing with loss and having to start again can be more than some are able to bear, so my thoughts reached for a home that will not suffer damage and cannot be taken from me.

This is my blog for the Christian Writer Blog Chain.

Coming Home

A lifetime is spent
Travelling to my home
My Father is waiting
He guides me,
To encourage others
Onto the road
And, they in turn,
Help me to navigate.

I can see,
A large mansion
My room is prepared
I have not rested,
In this room,
Yet I have seen,
Through foggy glass,
And promise.

Words from my Father,
Walk with me,
He encourages me,
 To light His path,
Feed anyone who,
Does not have food,
Care for the injured,
Bandage their wounds

                                                    For now, says my Father,
I want you to travel,
Love, as I love you,
My father's words
Are my GPS,
I will welcome you,
He promises, when,
Your journey ends, and
You come home.
